December Employee Spotlight
Justin Gilbert is a Quality Control Technician and has been a member of the McCartney Construction team for 12 years. His job duties include density testing of asphalt designing asphalt job mixes, and cutting core samples. He also operates the profiliograph to verify the pavement smoothness laid by company Justin’s proudest work related moment was when he earned his Level 3 asphalt certification which certifies him to design asphalt mixes for use on state highways. Justin is currently learning how to use an inertial profiler to help insure that McCartney paved roads are the smoothest in the business. His favorite part about working for McCartney is working out in the field which allows him to see different parts of our beautiful state. He enjoys being outdoors and working with good people. Justin’s favorite project that he participated in while at McCartney is the Eastern Bypass in Anniston. He enjoyed seeing the project being built from the original subgrade up through the final layer of hot mix asphalt. The Eastern Bypass was his “home away from home” for the past three years.
Outside of work, Justin’s favorite hobby is grilling out with friends and family. He also enjoys spending free time playing guitar. His favorite food is vegetable casserole. He has been happily married to his wife, Elizabeth for 6 years. Justin said his inspiration is his family.
